  • Stash 2.0 – Giving you more control with DVCS

    Atlassian has launched Stash 2.0 together with Enterprise Support for it. Stash is an on-premise Git Repository Management solution that allows teams a central way to manage all the distributed and growing code base.

    With Stash, it will be possible to

    • integrate with corporate LDAP
    • enforce permissions at project or branch level
    • integrate with JIRA issue tracker
    • extend new features with plugins
    • and others

    For those who are not heard of Git, it is fastest growing DVCS (Distributed Version Control System) that has increased from 13% (2011) to 27% (2012). People are switching from Subversion to DVCS to be more efficient, reduce dependencies among developers and to take advantage of the workflows.

  • Confluence 3.5 Released: Stronger JIRA Integration

    Have you ever wanted to create JIRA issues from the Confluence Editor? What about being able to quickly insert recently viewed issues to generate ad-hoc reports in Confluence? Well, thanks to Confluence 3.5, now you can!

    A new ‘Insert JIRA Issue’ dialog lets you to

    • create new issues,
    • insert recently viewed issues,
    • and search for existing issues to embed in Confluence pages.

    One possible useful scenario for this feature is tracking the action items for meeting minutes. With this new feature, there is no more need to dig up all the meeting minutes to see if the action items are completed.

    Atlassian, the maker of Confluence & JIRA was featured recently on the CNBC – US National TV for a short interview.

    It’s an amazing feat that a company started by 2 university graduates with a $10k credit card loan has grown into a company with 225 employees worldwide and 59 million revenue in FY2010.

  • 2 good news for Atlassian users

    Great news from our partner. Atlassian has been named by IDC as 10 Innovative Applications Companies under $100M to watch“.  Atlassian has exemplified herself in the following key trends in applications:

    • Acceleration of software as a service (SaaS), business process outsourcing (BPO), and open source over traditional on-premise software

    • Web 2.0-like functionality moves into the enterprise (e2.0).

  • Launch of Confluence 3.0

    Confluence 3.0 has just been launched yesterday with many new features and improvements over the previous version:

    • Now users can tap on the power of the macros easily without learning the makeup language with the macro browser
    • They can find out more about their coworkers and discover experts with enhanced user profiles
    • They can connect with their coworkers with Status Update (Twitter for your enterprise) and activities stream within their network.

    I found though both formal and informal surveys that Confluence lives at or near the top of the list of Enterprise Wikis when I speak to large enterprises.  I can’t quote the formal data, but I can share the following anecdote:  Many times I’ll ask a crowd how many people use wikis in their organization, then I’ll ask how many of those installations are Confluence.  Typically about half of those who say they are using a wiki will keep their hands up.

    Many large enterprises, like Accenture or Sun, have sanctioned Confluence as their IT approved wiki standard. Customers frequently use Atlassian’s Universal Wiki Converter to migrate other wikis to Confluence.

  • Update to the Atlassian’s fundraising drive

    Hi everyone, some great news about the fundraising drive I blogged last week.

    $100,370 was raised in the  5 days with 13,126 licenses being bought. The sum of money will enable Room to Read to build 25 libraries for children in developing nations.

  • Atlassian hits $100million of sales

    Within a short timespan of 7 yrs, our partner, Atlassian 
    has hit $100 million of sales. This is really amazing considering the fact that the prices for their product is in the range of 4 figures. This means that a lot of people have bought and are using the tools developed by them.

    According to their founders, the recipe for the success are:

    • The software had to sell itself with no $$$ for a sales team
    • To sell itself it had to be low price
    • To make money we’d have to sell lots of copies
    • To sell lots of copies, we’d have to build really good software

     

    We knew that we definitely made the right choice to partner Atlassian to market Confluence and Jira together with our best practices.
